What Happens If the Car Thermostat is Removed?

Removing a car's thermostat from the cooling system can cause problems. The thermostat regulates engine temperature by controlling coolant flow. Removal or permanent opening of the thermostat can cause engine overcooling, delayed warm-up, poor heater effectiveness, reduced fuel efficiency, increased engine wear, and engine damage.
